I grew up in Islamabad. My father was a Lawyer and a Deputy Secretary for the Ministry of Law, Pakistan. My mother was an educator. Hence I was raised in a discipline, truthful, honest and hardworking environment.
I graduated from Islamabad College for Women F-7/2, with a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and Statistics. After my graduation I got married. My husband Dr. Shahid Ahsan is a graduate from Nishtar Medical College. He specializes in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine. He is lifetime member of APPNA, Nishtar Alumnus and Pakistan Physician Society (PPS) in Chicago Illinois. So I have remained active in APPNA and PPS. I live in West Lafayette Indiana, which is the home for Purdue University. I believe in diversity and community unity, so I also joined Indian Women Association (IWA). I helped them organize festivals, fund raising, charity and musical functions. IWA has done a lot of philanthropic work in the local community. Even though I was a Pakistani , I was so respected that I was elected as a Co-President of Indian Women Association.
I am blessed with four Awesome kids and I have helped their sports teams in hosting events for Football, Wrestling and Golf as a team mother. During 2019 I also served as President of PPS Alliance and been active in Association’s philanthropic work and arranging meetings.
My husband and I regularly attend APPNA meetings and travel internationally with APPNA and PPS. Through my interaction and attending meeting at APPNA and PPS I have developed great understanding of how to promote unity and philanthropic work. This will give a satisfying experience while serving as an Alliance Treasurer of APPNA families. We are in dire need of developing a healthy and prosperous organization. I am confident that our positive attitude will help us achieve success.
